BeGenio is committed to helping children fall in love with maths, enjoy maths more, make maths fun, increase their attainment levels and grades, and reduce mathematical anxiety.
Grace Togun Olugbodi, Founder & Creator of the Race To Infinity Maths game, is determined to pass on maths confidence to young children.

So, we will give away up to 100 games; 10 to start with. If this Competition is very popular, Berkeley Homes (who have sponsored Race To Infinity maths games for the September 2020 Race To Infinity Maths Game Tournament, in Greenwich schools starting September), are happy for us to give away lots more, up to 100 of the games depending on the response! They will then replace them for the Tournament.
Close to half the adults in the UK have numeracy levels no greater than that of an 11 year old. This is costing the UK Economy £20 Billion /year. Grace strongly believes the key is to catch them young.
What The Royal Greenwich Maths Skills Initiative Aims To Achieve
The aim is to work with parents to reduce and bridge the gap that may arise from children not being in school. We want to help children increase their maths confidence and maths skills by making maths fun. We want to help reduce mathematical anxiety in children, which is now rife; and help children love maths more and enjoy maths more.
The support we are providing aims to help families by giving them invaluable tips, advice, and direction on how to support their children with maths.
As far back as 1997 when I first got involved in the Education Industry, parents have had problems supporting their children with maths (this was before COVID-19).
Now with the Corona Virus, there’s more pressure on parents and many are pulling their hair out and struggling with how to help their children with maths.
Likewise, before COVID-19, too many children disliked maths, did not see the point in doing it, and found it a boring chore. Too many children did not have enough fun, creative ways to practice maths at home, did not know why they were having to do maths at all, and did not know how to relate mathematics to real life.
Now, with the additional challenges of Corona Virus and children all being at home, parents homeschooling (with no notice or time to prepare psychology or mentally, especially with maths), they have had to become the Maths teacher.
With no notice. Many have found this experience horrifying so far. It does not help that too many parents were afraid of maths themselves and did not know how to help their children with homework, even before COVID-19.
When we went into Lockdown, I started thinking: “who is going to help parents support their children with maths?”.
There is a real danger, that children are going to fall behind even more than before, especially in Maths.

Who Is Targeted to Benefit?
Parents and children aged 6 – 13. (Children in Primary school and early Secondary).
What the winners will receive (including how that is delivered) – the winners will receive a copy of the Race To Infinity game each.
Timelines
Additionally, we will start weekly online 20-30 minute fun maths workshops (especially around the times tables and maths tricks) commencing week beginning May 24th.
We will increase the frequency to twice a week if this proves popular and people want more.
We will run the videos live on our BeGenio Facebook page and Make Maths Fun Facebook group, and will share this to our Instagram page (Race To Infinity) each time.
When Will We Announce Winners?
We will announce the winners in two to three weeks from the time we start and get the games to them through Berkeley Homes’ post.
Berkeley has kindly offered that we can use their post to get games across to individual winning families.
What Will The Workshops Cover
After seeing what the biggest problem is for parents through interaction with parents while continually discussing with parents about children’s challenges around maths, we want to involve all parents interested and who register (not just the people who win the Race To Infinity games through the competition), in the fun maths workshops.
The workshops will focus on showing families (parents and children) fun ways of helping children learn their times tables, the four main operations, and some maths tricks on basic and fundamental, essential maths.
For the people who win the game, we will share how to play the game through online videos too. You can check our Youtube for more!
